Dear Families of East Allen County Schools,

Following Governor Holcomb’s Press Conference this afternoon, April 2nd, East Allen County Schools will be closed through the end of this school year.  The Governor announced that all schools in the state of Indiana will be closed through the remainder of the 2019 – 2020 school year.   We will be using a combination of eLearning days and instructional waiver days from the Governor during this time period.

Attached you will see a calendar indicating which days will be electronic learning days and which days students will not be given assignments. All assignments from the previous week will be due each Monday by 4:00 p.m. with the exception of the last week when all assignments will be due by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22.

If your student has difficulty accessing his or her eLearning assignments, he or she may contact their teachers by email. East Allen County Schools realizes that your child may not have reliable internet access. If that is the case, please contact the teachers in order to determine other options for completing the assignments. If you need further assistance, please feel free to call your child’s school. All school activities will be canceled during this time frame.

As further information becomes available, we will continue to communicate through the district website and school messenger. We know this is a stressful time and East Allen County Schools will continue to support our families with instruction.  We encourage families to create a routine for their children and look for ways to support each other as we navigate the weeks ahead.  As the Governor also indicated, social distancing is extremely important.  Please discuss social distancing with your child in order to help decrease the spread of the virus.  Finally, information regarding meal distribution can be found on our website and will be updated regularly.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding during this time.  Please reach out to me, if I can help in any possible way.  More details will be forthcoming regarding retrieving student belongings and the returning of the iPads.  We will also be sharing more information regarding seniors as it becomes available.

COVID-19 Informational Letter
There has been an abundance of media coverage regarding the Coronavirus Disease 2019 also referred to as COVID-19 and many steps are being taken to contain further spread of the virus. As we have done when there were previous outbreaks of diseases caused by a virus, such as H1N1 (swine flu) and Ebola, East Allen County Schools, along with all other Allen County school districts, has worked with the Allen County Department of Health (ACDH) to implement steps that contain further spread of the disease.
